THE WORK
-
The Orlando James Shakespeare Workshop is a one-to-one session that isn’t results based; it is about broadening your knowledge and equipping yourself with the tools to master verse and performance - If you’re looking to free up your approach to Shakespeare, and to develop a better working practice this workshop will enable you to break down your obstacles and gain confidence in the art form.
Where the audition prep work is directional and condensed, this workshop has a more reaching scope and is more based in fundamental development. Perfect for professionals and students alike, this workshop focuses on the three pillars of The Orlando James Methodology (Outward Attention | Imaginative Embodiment | Clarity of thought through technique).
This method has helped many actors rid themselves of the fear of performing Shakespeare, has led to various roles, has even helped a PHD researcher realise their theories through practice.
It is an insightful and refreshingly simple approach.

I work with secondary schools to deepen students’ understanding of Shakespeare through practical, performance-based workshops that directly support curriculum outcomes at KS3 and KS4.
‘Inside Shakespeare’ offers structured, curriculum-aligned Shakespeare workshops that raise attainment, improve confidence, and support written exam performance through embodied learning.
My workshops are structured around assessment objectives.
GCSE Focus Areas
AO1: Maintain a critical style
AO2: Analyse writer’s methods
AO3: Show contextual understanding
This ensures that performance work translates directly into improved written responses.
Students leave with:
Clearer quotation recall
Stronger conceptual understanding
Greater confidence tackling unseen extracts
A practical go-to method to take into exams
I have over a decade of experience performing Shakespare on some of the world’s great stages. I am passionate about rewriting the expectations of Shakespeare in education.

Deep understanding of verse and rhetoric
Curriculum-aligned structure
Exam-aware delivery
Practical strategies teachers can reuse
Students gain:
Embodied understanding of Shakespeare’s language
